Description:

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Lead on the development and implementation of a nationally ground breaking approach to the evaluation and funding of climate and nature emergency projects. As the Climate and Nature Investment Project Manager, you will grow and evolve project development within South Gloucestershire, sourcing funding and providing operational oversight on a wide range of climate and nature related projects, with a value up to approximately £1m. We currently have six projects planned for open spaces, rivers, waterways, carbon mitigation and nature recovery.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • You will hold a relevant professional or equivalent degree level qualification in an environmental discipline, or you will have equivalent relevant experience.
  • We require you to have significant experience in delivering on climate and nature recovery initiatives, to include all scope carbon accounting and natural capital site valuations and feasibility business case preparation.
  • You must be able to demonstrate your experience in networking to source finding, donations, grants and bids for projects and have strong budget management skills.
  • We require you to have extensive knowledge and proven track record in environmental project development, planning and delivering projects within set timescales, requirements and to budget.
  • It is key that you have well-developed interpersonal skills to persuade, influence and build relationships and communicate effectively with businesses local communities and stakeholder partners to achieve mutual objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • You will manage and deliver work priorities and projects for the council’s Climate and Nature Emergency Action Plan, responsible for the project management log, project plans, risk registers, communications and engagement plans, and equalities impact assessment and plans.
  • The main part of your role will be to source project funding, by reaching out to local businesses, the public, grant funders and organisations to gain commitment for current ICaN projects and develop future ICaN initiatives.
  • To deliver on projects, you will work closely with specialist officers within the council, a wide range of external stakeholders and partners at local, regional and national levels, such as the Environment Agency, Natural England, Utility companies, West of England Nature Partnership, Town and Parish Councils.
  • You will lead on the portfolio, achieving and tracking project milestones, targets and outputs, finance, grants and budgetary management, and also to monitor compliance and provide regular reports.
  • The role offers a hybrid working arrangement with a mix of office and home-based work, to meet attendance to site and stakeholder visits and office meetings.
