CLIMATE AND SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT

The Climate and Sustainability Team is looking to recruit two new team members. These roles will be based in Arup’s Dublin or Cork offices.
We are looking for new team members to to support our clients to develop pathways, frameworks and implementation plans to achieve their climate objectives. This role involves engaging with Arup’s broad portfolio of projects within the infrastructure, buildings, cities, transport, energy and water sectors in Ireland and overseas.
The Opportunity
The role will be dedicated to a specialist in mitigation and/or specialist in adaptation/resilience. This role can be based in Dublin or Cork
- Mitigation: Deliver specialist carbon consultancy services, including contributing to the development of GHG baseline methodologies, emissions assessments and reduction strategies.
- Adaptation and resilience: Climate impact and risk assessment, including scenario development, climate change adaptation/resilience measures
Multidisciplinary skills across both roles including
Sustainability:
- Develop sustainability strategies, including sustainability implementation plans. Advise on sustainability approaches, TCFD reporting frameworks, science-based target methodologies.
Business development:
- Conduct opportunity assessments for clients across sustainability and carbon and contribute the development of implementation plans that result from these assessments.
- Prepare bids for new work, often working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Communications:
- Engaging with Arup’s broad portfolio of projects within the infrastructure, buildings, cities, transport, energy and water sectors in Ireland and overseas.
- Internally engage across Group 1 and 2 to shape collaborative climate and sustainability service offerings for clients.
Is this role right for you ?
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about Climate and Sustainability and Arup’s purpose. You’ll also need:
- Mimimum of 5 years experience in decarbonisation and/or resilience strategies, sustainability, environmental management
- Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and excellent report writing skills
- Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of sustainability initiatives
- Good knowledge of the sustainability and climate policy environment, especially across energy and transport sectors and at city scale
- Masters or higher degree in Energy or Environmental engineering would be an asset. Willingness to apply for chartership would be an asset.
- Understanding of Climate legislation, research methods, concepts and regulatory changes
