Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Operations, and working alongside Radius’ Medical Director, the Clinic Manager is the leader of the Radius Primary Care Clinic. The Clinic Manager oversees a dynamic team-based health care system comprised of Physicians, Psychologists, Nurse Practitioners (NP), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Medical Office Assistants (MOA), Health Advocates/Social Workers (HA), Client Support Workers (CSW), Outreach workers, and more. The Clinic Manager supports the mission and values of Radius and provides leadership and mentorship to the entire team on delivering compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interdisciplinary Team Leadership:
  • Lead an interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive health support within primary care setting.
  • Clinic Operations Management:

Oversee the routine flow and daily operations of the clinic, including:

  • Staff Management: Manage staff scheduling and timesheets, participate in hiring and training, manage dispute resolution, and handle disciplinary actions and other Human Resources functions.
  • Inventory and Supply Management: Oversee clinical supply inventory and procurement to ensure adequate resources are available.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) and Occupations Health and Safety (OH&S) standards.
  • Initiative Oversight: Organize and manage initiatives and services linked to clinic services, such as auxiliary health services, research projects, vaccine clinics, and clinical outreach teams.
  • Contract Staff Coordination: Oversee the work of contract staff, acting as a main point of contact for partnership communications.

  • Patient Relations: Review and manage incident outcomes, develop and implement behavioral contracts, collaborate with the team on care plan development, and address client complaints effectively.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and manage serious incidents on clinic premises, ensuring thorough resolution and documentation.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with external agencies to represent Radius in relevant settings and foster productive partnership relationships.
  • Data Management:
  • Support the collection and reporting of clinic-based data as required for performance and operational evaluation.
  • Program Planning and Evaluation:
  • Contribute to the planning and evaluation of clinic programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Mentorship and Coaching:
  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skillsets, capacity, and leadership abilities.
  • Performance Oversight:
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance and job duties of a diverse team of health care professionals including NPs, LPNs, MOAs, HAs, CSWs, and Outreach workers. and Outreach workers.
  • Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the clinic.
  • Coordinate student practicum placements and provide guidance as needed.
  • Chair and organize internal and external meetings to facilitate communication and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in a health profession, preferably nursing.
  • Current registration in respective profession. (e.g., College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Satisfactory criminal record check including vulnerable sector.
  • 5 years relevant experience in a community health center, primary care clinic, or non-profit health agency.
  • Experience with marginalized populations is required. (e.g. homeless serving sector, social service agencies)
  • Management and people leadership experience is an asset.
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding for those with addictions and behavioral disorders.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of health issues unique to the vulnerable population.
  • Strong computer proficiency, experience with MedAccess Electronic Medical Record is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent understanding of cultural awareness an asset.
  • Understanding and ability to apply principles of Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction.
