Responsibilities:

YOU AND THE ROLE

We are currently looking to appoint a qualified, newly qualified, or soon to be qualified Psychologist, who has experience or an interest of working with complex and challenging patient groups. The individual will be eligible for, or hold HCPC registration, to cover maternity leave. This fixed term role is based on one of our medium secure wards that will provide care and treatment for working age males with complex mental illnesses and forensic backgrounds and presentations.
Psychology is highly valued within the service and embedded within a multi-disciplinary approach. The post holder will be fully involved in the delivery and evaluation of a range of assessments and formulation-led interventions. The successful applicant will be joining a motivated and supportive team with a variety of therapeutic knowledge, using approaches including CBT, EMDR, DBT, CFT and trauma focused care and specific offence focussed interventions in both 1:1 and group formats. They will work closely with the other male wards and clinical teams to ensure the pathways between the wards/services are maximised and meet patients’ needs as they progress through treatment and recovery.
The successful applicant will work with an established psychology team led by a Consultant Psychologist, and containing Clinical & Forensic Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and graduate volunteers and placement students. They will also be a key member of the ward MDT, alongside our highly regarded colleagues from the Allied Therapies, Nursing and Psychiatry disciplines to support and develop ward practice.
There will be opportunities for joint professional work and involvement in clinical supervision, support and training and we actively support innovation and research. You can expect to receive good support, reflective practice and supervision and will play a vital part in the promotion of this service. Participation in continued professional development is encouraged, and divisional and charity wide CPD events are held weekly. Staff wellbeing is taken seriously recognising the importance for practitioners to care for themselves when caring for others.
