EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelor of Science or an equivalent degree in a related discipline is a requirement
- Master of Science or an equivalent degree in a related discipline is an asset
- MRI Technologist certification is an asset
KEY ATTRIBUTES (EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE):
- At least 5 years of previous experience as an Application Specialist or in an equivalent role
- Experience and expertise in MRI, preferably including hands-on scanning in a clinical environment (for example as an MRI technologist).
- Technical experience with medical devices and applications in a clinical, research, or industry environment, preferably involving in-bore interventions or therapeutic ultrasound.
- Familiarity with clinical, scientific, and technical advances in MRI and MRI-guided therapeutic procedures.
- Excellent teacher and communicator of complex technical and medical information in oral, written, and visual formats.
- Proven presentation skills and success facilitating training and knowledge transfer.
- A team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail, has the self-motivation and focus to organize and prioritize activities with limited supervision, builds credibility by holding themselves to the highest standards of honesty and personal integrity.
- Ability to build rapport quickly, as well as to establish trust and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of external and internal stakeholders.

- Must have a valid EU passport, flexibility to manage an irregular travel schedule, and be willing to travel internationally at least 50% of the time, including nights and weekends, sometimes with short notice.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential; fluency in spoken and written Finnish and other European languages highly desired.
- Knowledge of PACS, DICOM, and computer networking is an asset.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Clinical Application Specialist supports the widespread adoption and utilization of Profound’s products by educating, mentoring, and collaborating with gynecologists, urologists, radiologists, interventional radiologists, oncologists, and their staff on the technical and clinical aspects of MRI-guided therapeutic ultrasound.
The Clinical Application Specialist is an essential part of the Clinical Support Team and as one of our product champions is both the “face to the customer” and the “voice of the customer”. They will provide training for customers on how to use all the features of our products. In addition, they will train the trainer and the sales and marketing teams in using our products. Their responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of all training materials and application manuals.
They will also provide clinical treatment support (remote and in-person) and are responsible for general customer relationship management. The Clinical Application Specialist will travel extensively with travel encompassing 50% or more of their responsibilities.
Moreover, they are in charge of the Usability and Validation processes including system testing, volunteer imaging, and MR sequence creation/optimization. As the direct link to our customers, they are responsible for clinical data collection and complaint handling and reporting. They are a fundamental contributor to improving the quality of our products by providing feedback to the Clinical, Marketing, and Engineering teams.
As required by the business, the Clinical Application Specialist may be asked to participate in other clinical and marketing activities of the company.
The work will take place primarily in Europe, particularly in Finland.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver all Profound’s product training programs.
- Partner with our R&D and Engineering teams to perform field testing and provide feedback on new hardware and software features.
- Partner with our Sales and Marketing teams to educate potential new customers, contribute to patient and physician education events, recommend solutions to streamline the initiation of new sites, and identify areas where we can help existing customers and offer Profound’s products to more patients.
- Guide physicians and staff during treatment procedures at hospitals and imaging centers based on best practices from expert sites and from the latest clinical literature.
- Troubleshoot both first-of-a-kind and routine situations in the field, which requires in-depth understanding of Profound’s technology and its applications, as well as the humility and confidence to work collaboratively and effectively under pressure.
- Communicate customer feedback to Clinical, Marketing, Sales, R&D, and Engineering teams.
- Assist physicians with patient selection and pre-treatment planning.
- Perform detailed post-treatment case reviews, including analyses of treatment workflow and patient outcomes, identifying limiting steps and areas for improvement to coach physicians and their teams towards more efficient procedures and optimal patient outcomes across a wide variety of disease states.
- Document and resolve complaints according to QMS processes.
- Oversee the Usability and Validation processes.
- Oversee product utilization tracking and reporting.
- Produce written reports on customer visits, and document and manage all relevant customer activities within the CRM system.
- Represent Profound at trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences.
- Support the installation and setup of Profound’s products at customer sites.
- Other duties as required by the needs of the business.
