ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Fairfield Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Coding and Casemix Manager to oversee all aspects of clinical coding, ensuring compliance with the NSW Ministry of Health’s 28-day deadline, and classifying inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM in accordance with Australian Coding Standards.
The successful candidate will implement systems to meet internal targets, develop a quality improvement plan to maintain coding accuracy, conduct internal audits, and address documentation issues affecting hospital length of stay.
Responsibilities include timely coding of medical records, presenting monthly statistical information, providing coding training and education, and developing Coding & Casemix reports using the Health Information Exchange (HIE).
The role also involves ensuring data quality, managing Clinical Coding staff, developing orientation packages for medical staff, conducting ongoing casemix education, and participating in relevant committees.
The ideal candidate will maintain personal coding knowledge across all specialties offered by Fairfield Hospital and stay updated with developments in technology, work practices, and legislation.
