Description:

Would you like to do a job that makes a difference every day, using your skills, experience, and compassion to help women whose mental health has been impacted by their perinatal experience?
Our Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service has been growing over the past 10 years to provide a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to caring for women experiencing mental health difficulties in the context of their perinatal experience. Our team base is in Truro but we deliver a countywide service.
We endeavour to deliver a holistic, high quality service that is safe, person-centred, and focused on family and recovery. Regular 121, group support and supervision are provided, along with CPD and regular training opportunities to enable you to feel assured and grow in your role.
This role will primarily be offering therapy to women who have experienced perinatal loss or trauma. We are looking for a dynamic and solution-focused team player who is passionate about high quality care for women across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. You will be outcomes driven and able to work collaboratively with our organisational partners in NHS Talking Therapies, Infant mental health, Special Parenting Service, Maternity Services, health visiting, the MBU (Mother and Baby Unit) in Devon, and other partnership agencies to deliver a unified and safe service.

The principal purpose of this job is to improve the psychological health and wellbeing of women / birthing people accessing the Cornwall Perinatal Loss and Trauma Team (PLTT). The Cornwall PLTT is a therapy service within the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service. There will also be some cross-cover working with the Perinatal Mental Health Team.

  • Carrying a specialist caseload of clients, and providing highly specialised trauma-informed psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions including EMDR and/or CBT to service users.
  • Working collaboratively and providing advice, consultancy, training and guidance to colleagues and other agencies across the Perinatal Mental Health Pathway.
  • Providing clinical supervision for less experienced staff, trainees and volunteers employed by or attached to the service.
  • Reaching out to individuals who may be at increased risk of health/social inequality and/or who may experience significant barriers to accessing support from health services to ensure everyone has the opportunity to get the support and treatment that they may need.
  • Continually reviewing care provision and outcome measures to ensure delivery of high-quality care in line with policy and key perinatal priorities.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you’ll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people’s homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live her. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
