EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Registered Dietitian with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC).
- Two (2) years clinical dietetic experience in a community care or long term care setting or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
- Restricted Activity A is required to practice.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
- Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Long Term Care and gerontological nutrition.
- Knowledge of dysphagia and related nutritional issues related to disability/degenerative diseases.
- Knowledge of enteral nutrition.
- Demonstrated ability to assess residents with diverse nutrition problems.
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think critically.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clinical direction to non-professional staff.
- Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach residents and families.
- Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of adult learning.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practice guidelines and protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, plan and coordinate work assignments.
- Demonstrated experience with utilizing various word processing, spreadsheet and nutrition-related computer applications.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a multi-disciplined team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
