Description:

- Casual position, with shifts available Monday-Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to join our team on a casual basis, to carry out Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) for internationally qualified nurses who apply to register in Aotearoa New Zealand. More permanent roles may be available in the future.

Nurse Maude is a well-known and highly regarded organisation, who have been providing healthcare services to the community for over 120 years. We have recently been contracted by the New Zealand Nursing Council to administer OSCEs as part of the registration process for internationally qualified nurses, to take place in a custom-designed simulation and assessment centre on our premises in Merivale.
Te Mahi/About the Position
The OSCE is a time-specific station-based examination, meaning one examiner is required in each examination room, to observe and assess the candidates in real-time, submit the assessment to the electronic system before the next candidate arrives.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Observing and assessing candidates’ performance in the OSCE, using evidence-based assessment criteria matched specifically to the OSCE stations.
- Using the electronic assessment software.
- Providing support and assistance in the setup, calibration, inspection, maintenance and operation of simulation centre stations.
- Supporting and guiding human patient simulators (Assessment Support) in the simulation centre station.
- Ensuring the OSCE station is consistently set up, as outlined in the scenario instructions, for examinations in the Centre.
- Attending ongoing training and calibration sessions, as required, to ensure efficient and high-quality delivery of clinical examinations.
- Maintaining examination integrity of assessment processes at all times.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent).
- A current New Zealand APC, without restrictions or notifications.
- Availability of at least 1 day per fortnight needed to maintain competence.
- At least 5 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand.
- Experience working with and supporting new graduate nurses.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA).
- Experience with clinical competence assessment of practice.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong report writing ability.
- Strong IT skills, quick to learn.
- The ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly.
- Sound understanding of the role of regulation in health.
- An open mind and positive outlook.
