Description:
This is for a Band 6 Post to facilitate training of clinical medical devices for UHCW theatres, Recovery and Anaesthetic teams. The post is advertised as a permanent position, working at Coventry Main Theatre and Ground floor theatre sites as well as Rugby St Cross theatres. The services run 7 days a week and there will be the expectation to work within your professional scope of practice to support clinical activity as required. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person with an interest in medical devices, training and health and safety who has the appropriate experience and skills. You will be required to work closely with the existing team structure and demonstrate the ability to be able to work flexibly in diverse clinical environments. The successful applicant will have a high level of self-management skills including time management, prioritisation, and organisation. The role will require planning complex activities, and delivery of a training programme.
Act as an expert medical device resource for the multi-professional training and development team.
Facilitate training on medical equipment and devices and provide specialist technical advice to the department.
Act as a point of contact for medical device company representatives.
Be visible, accessible, and assertive, co-ordinating all aspects of equipment training and supporting with staff and student management on a daily basis.
Support the development of objectives and standards of clinical practice in relation to medical devices and equipment in the operating theatre department, to support service aims.
Have an active role in assisting and facilitating monthly clinical audit sessions and use various methods of communication to increase engagement and awareness of plans to the intended audience.
Manage own workload, prioritise following policies and competing service demands. Propose changes to own working practices and the quality system to promote efficiency
Facilitate training sessions periodically for staff in their area of speciality knowledge

- In conjunction with clinical leads and other members of the multi- disciplinary team as appropriate, ensure training plans are regularly updated, and changes implemented. Ensure that staff training records and documentation is maintained in accordance with local and national guidelines.
- Implement and ensure best practice is embedded within training and care delivery. Actively encourage the use of clinical information to improve the quality of patient care, requires skills for assessing and interpreting patients complex needs.
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained in all aspects and levels of communication especially pertaining to patients, carers, and staff.
- Facilitate communication, which results in clear responsibilities being identified within the multi-professional team.
- Ensure the delivery of care is in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices of University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust and ensure all staff are up to date with such procedures. Reviewing and commenting on policy and support implementation of relevant policy.
