Description:

The position advertised is full-time for 12 months, subject to renewal and are based purely at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. There are no on-call duties involved.
The working week will include both Adult and Paediatric activities; clinics, attending GA/LA Minor oral surgery and Consultant theatre sessions, ward rounds, and admin duties.
The appointment is intended for a clinical fellow doctor will work as a part of the team with Consultants, Associate Specialty Doctor and Staff Associate Specialist, in surgery, to cover inpatient, outpatient and day case Oral and Maxillo-facial services.
The sessions covered will include consultation clinics, day care general and local anaesthesia sessions and in-patient GA lists (clinics and surgical lists under supervision by senior clinicians)
The OMFS department at Homerton carries out a huge volume of work yearly.
Candidates can expect to achieve hands on experience in huge number of minor oral surgical procedures. There is opportunity to receive training in procedures under Intra-venous training.
All manner of dento-alveolar pathology, jaw cysts, Salivary gland pathology, skin cancers, TMJ disorders, head & neck masses, oral medicine is treated by the department.
No on-call duties to cover. Maxillo-facial trauma and head and neck oncology treatment are treated at different centres.
The post holder will be involved in a monthly departmental meeting during which teaching sessions are also arranged. There is a separate monthly audit session at which attendance is obligatory.
Some flexibility of timetables will be necessary to ensure inpatient care and urgent inpatient and A&E referrals are attended to.
