YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in, or graduate of, a recognized Clinical Genetics Technology program required.
  • Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or Microarray techniques preferred.
  • Valid Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technology (NSCMLT) license or eligibility required.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving, organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collaborative team environment
  • Candidates must demonstrate an ongoing commitment to technical expertise and professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • PCR (including RT-PCR and fluorescent PCR)
  • Sequencing, MLPA, RAD, Microarray, and NGS analysis
  • Gel electrophoresis
  • Problem-solves at a basic, operational level using an analytical approach
  • Cytogenetic specimen set up, tissue culture and harvest
  • Operates and maintains common laboratory equipment/instruments
  • QA/QC procedures and documentation
  • Performs duties in compliance with established operational policies, procedures and protocols and in accordance with safety guidelines and legislation pertaining to health care (i.e. WHMIS, TDG, OHS, waste management
