Description:
Clinical Healthcare Support Worker, Band 3 (35 hours a week)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious individual to join our team in Vascular Laboratory.
Under the supervision of registered Clinical Scientists, the post holder will be assisting the departmental team in providing the highest possible standard of care for patients and their families/carers to meet the service demands.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential as all the necessary training will be provided.

This versatile role will assist in the efficient running of the busy Vascular Laboratory service at both, Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals. The Vascular Laboratory provides highly specialist and complex examinations for a wide breadth of inpatients and outpatients, some with complex needs.
The post holder will provide full clinical support for the Vascular Scientists within the Vascular Laboratories, with duties including preparing the scanning rooms, assisting with patient preparation and workflow, acting as a chaperon and stock maintenance. Light administrative duties to support the administrative team will include welcoming patients and assisting with enquiries, answering the phone, assisting with ordering porters for inpatients, attending patient appointments using hospitals patient systems and simple auditing tasks.
The Vascular Laboratory team work closely with six Vascular Consultants, Consultant Radiologists, Vascular Surgical Care Practitioners, Advanced Vascular Nurse Specialists and Vascular Access Nurse Specialists as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. The Vascular Laboratories are spacious, with air-conditioned rooms and are well equipped with 5 Philips EPIQ 7, 1 Philips EPIQ 5 and Philips InnoSite ultrasound machines. We use an electronic reporting system as well as CRIS/PACS. We also have dedicated office space separate from the scanning rooms.

Care duties
- Provide a wide range of assistance to the scientific and administrative staff working to established procedure and protocols;
- Ensure the maintenance of clinical care standards and that patients are treated with dignity and respect;
- Escort, chaperone and support patients during treatments, investigations or procedures;
- Assist with patient care needs, which include toileting, dressing/undressing, assisting the patient on and off the examination table ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained;
- Carry out any moving and handling within the safe practice guidelines from mandatory training and in relation to the patient’s manual handling plan;
- Assist with patient transport to and from the department;
General Duties
- Support all patients, carers, relative and colleagues through effective communication;
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas;
- Follow departmental protocols policies and procedures;
- Ensure consumables are stored appropriately and safely and maintain adequate stock levels;
- Safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per Trust policy;
- Be familiar with Trust policy and procedure for reporting clinical incidents, reporting of incidents if they occur;
- Provide support and assistance to new and junior members of staff;
- Supports members of the nursing team in the management of abusive and aggressive behaviour with supervision;
- Report equipment faults to manager responsible for the work area;
