Are YOU our next Clinical Laboratory Assistant?
We’re looking for a two Genetics Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our NIPT team in Brampton, Ontario. You will be responsible for the preparation of samples and/or reagents for routine processing. Perform simple non-interpretive tests under the technical oversight of a Senior Clinical Laboratory Assistant or Medical Laboratory Technologist as required. Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Independently perform simple non-interpretive tests escalating to a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist for support and guidance as required. Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Participate in all quality assurance programs and ensure company and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines are observed. Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as appropriate and deal with problems that arise. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life. This is a 12-month full time contract position, working Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:00 am – 6:00 pm, weekends may be required. Flexibility is required to meet operational needs.

• Certification from recognized Biotechnology program or has completed University level studies in Biotechnology or Genetics
• Experience working in a molecular genetics laboratory
• Experience with liquid handling automation and thermal cyclers
• Strong specimen processing skills
• Excellent data entry skills
• Experience with lab information systems
• Accuracy and precision in performing laboratory procedures
• Excellent documentation practices
• Demonstrate attention to detail and emphasize safety/precaution in work practices
• Great communication skills in written and oral English
• Excellent customer service skills
• Maintain strict standards of patient privacy and confidentiality
• Work well independently and as a member of a team
• Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

Nice to have:

• Experience in clinical genetic testing
• OSMT certification an asset
