Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience which includes 1) monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient care services; 2) evaluating the quality of services and adequacy of equipment, personnel, and working accommodations; and 3) assisting with the establishment of professional standards that comply with accreditation requirements and regulatory procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist performing duties associated with the Pathology Clinic and compliance with the Quality Assessment/Improvement (QA/I) program.
  • Responsible for the Compliance, Quality Assessment/Improvement (QA/I) Unit of the Laboratory and develops/manages the QA/I program to include Blood Bank, Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis.
  • Evaluate the quality of services and adequacy of equipment, personnel and working accommodations through on-site inspections and/or review of reports in various areas within the Laboratory.
  • Evaluate and monitor the proficiency testing programs to assure the adequacy of test methods, equipment, process and competency of personnel performing proficiency testing.
  • Write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and instructions relevant to a comprehensive Quality Assessment/Improvement (QA/I).
  • Assist in developing, reviewing and approving all training and-educational programs for all laboratory personnel.
