Clinical Team Leader Integrated Sexual Health (ISH)- Band 8A

  • This is an exciting opportunity to join the CAMISH team at CNWL.
  • CAMISH stands for the Camden and Islington Young People’s Sexual Health network. It is a partnership between Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) Sexual Health Services and Brook.
  • The post holder has daily managerial responsibility alongside the Service Manager for the effective operational running of sexual health and contraception services for young people as part of the Camden and Islington Young People’s Sexual Health Service. The post holder will be part of the senior management team to lead the nursing team and clinical services.
  • The post holder will take day to day operational management responsibility for the planning, directing and performance management of the service. They will also ensure that service access and delivery is efficient, effective, evidence-based, needs led and patient care focused. They will provide clear leadership, in partnership with the Service Manager in order to ensure timely screening, treatment and interventions by well led and motivated staff that contributes to promoting safety for patients and carers. They will work with the Service Manager to ensure that team performance targets are consistently met by developing and implementing improvement plans as and when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • To deliver effective leadership and direction to staff and teams
  • To ensure services meet care quality and performance management standards
  • To ensure effective performance management and professional leadership of the workforce
  • To ensure services are cost effective and delivered within budget
  • To lead change management in the implementation of service development strategies
  • To create a culture in which innovative ideas and strategies can flourish and provide vision and inspiration to enable staff to deliver care more effectively
  • To work with the Service Manager to deliver robust financial management in line with Service Line, Divisional and Trust targets, including the realistic Cost Improvement Programmes
  • To represent the Service Line at external meetings with stakeholders
  • To deputise for the Service Manager as appropriate.

  • To ensure the effective use of human resources ensuring safe levels of staffing which reflect the necessary and appropriate skill mix.
  • To manage the Band 7 and Band 6 clinical staff and Band 3 staff across the area of responsibility for the post and ensure that all staff are in receipt of regular appraisal and professional development support, liaising with Heads of profession and training departments as appropriate.
  • To manage the Band 7 and Band 6 clinical staff and Band 3 staff across the area of responsibility for the post in collaboration with their clinical mentors and leads of service as applicable.
  • To monitor sickness absence, annual leave, training and study leave, taking any appropriate management action as required.
  • To ensure all staff are trained and participate in regular audit and quality improvement.
  • To ensure all staff are pro-active in contributing to team and service training initiatives.
  • To ensure that all staff are trained to understand and make optimum use of electronic systems that facilitate service delivery.
