Description:

Reporting To: Head of Department or Nominee
Location: Rotunda, CHI at Temple Street, CHI at Crumlin, the Coombe and Drogheda
Contract: 6 months, renewable, Part Time
Start Date: January 2025

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributing to the clinical teaching programme in the senior cycle programmes
  • Contributing to the assessment of students in senior cycles programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of course content
  • Liaising with heads of department, project leaders for clinical competence and other relevant faculty members in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes
  • Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment
  • Delivering the curriculum at a number of sites e.g. assigned hospitals, RCSI Campus
  • Assist in drafting exam questions under the direct supervision of the Head of the department and Professors.
  • Coordinating exam standard setting
  • Assist in the creation of multimedia teaching content e.g. Videos; podcasts etc.
  • Grading and recording of student coursework e.g. logbook and online quizzes
  • Assisting with student exams

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Conducting Research; Outcomes to be defined with relevant head of department
  • Travelling to international sites including RCSI Bahrain or Perdana University for a short period of time (this travel is not mandatory, the successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to volunteer for these opportunities)
  • Liaising with and/and visiting peripheral hospitals from time to time at the instruction of the Head of Department
  • Attending RCSI professional development workshops and mandatory training sessions (if needed)
  • Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety
  • Representing the best interests of the Department/RCSI at all times
  • Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time
