Description:
Reporting To: Head of Department or Nominee
Location: Rotunda, CHI at Temple Street, CHI at Crumlin, the Coombe and Drogheda
Contract: 6 months, renewable, Part Time
Start Date: January 2025
Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributing to the clinical teaching programme in the senior cycle programmes
- Contributing to the assessment of students in senior cycles programmes. This includes development, delivery and evaluation of course content
- Liaising with heads of department, project leaders for clinical competence and other relevant faculty members in planning, delivering and evaluating teaching programmes
- Providing resources and communication with student groups via the RCSI virtual learning environment
- Delivering the curriculum at a number of sites e.g. assigned hospitals, RCSI Campus
- Assist in drafting exam questions under the direct supervision of the Head of the department and Professors.
- Coordinating exam standard setting
- Assist in the creation of multimedia teaching content e.g. Videos; podcasts etc.
- Grading and recording of student coursework e.g. logbook and online quizzes
- Assisting with student exams
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Conducting Research; Outcomes to be defined with relevant head of department
- Travelling to international sites including RCSI Bahrain or Perdana University for a short period of time (this travel is not mandatory, the successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to volunteer for these opportunities)
- Liaising with and/and visiting peripheral hospitals from time to time at the instruction of the Head of Department
- Attending RCSI professional development workshops and mandatory training sessions (if needed)
- Ensuring that all Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland policies and procedures are adhered to
- Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety
- Representing the best interests of the Department/RCSI at all times
- Performing such other duties as may be required from time to time
