About the Role
The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of Perinatal Mental Health. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will provide contemporary advanced, comprehensive, holistic, and evidenced based nursing assessment and treatment of women with mental health problems during the perinatal period: during pregnancy and up until their infant is one year of age within a family inclusive approach.
The CNC also provides screening around maternal/ infant attachment. The role provides consultation, liaison, education and specialist support to other health providers such as General Practitioners, obstetricians, midwives, child health nurses and allied health providers as well as mental health service providers around perinatal mental health. The CNC is expected to provide support and conduct research pertinent to perinatal mental health and professional issues arising from practice. The role will also support the coordination of the Together in Mind Group, as well as being the lead facilitator for the majority of the TIM groups run through the year, alternating between Logan and Bayside. The CNC will also facilitate the development of local partnerships within a framework of collaborative practice across the sector.
- Responsible for clinical leadership for Perinatal Wellbeing services through the application of advanced clinical knowledge, skills and competency according to contemporary practice and standards of care.
- Maintain high level of interpersonal and negotiation skills to inform and train the healthcare team of clinical practice updates and research findings within the Perinatal Wellbeing Service area.
- Utilise advanced clinical skills and expertise to support nurses in patient care planning, delivery and education.
