Description:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN)
    · Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
    · Minimum 2 years of related experience in psychiatric nursing;
    · Ability to administer psychotropic medications, and monitor the side effects ;

· Ability to identify medication side effects, intolerance, drug incompatibility etc., and other drug-related issues;
· Ability to work with clients with a dual diagnosis (mental health issues and development disability)and client with Austim Spectrum Disorder
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary in order to meet deadlines;
· Strong oral and written communication skills;
· Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications including: Word, Excel, and Outlook

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process.
  • Medical clearance in accordance with Lumenus Community Services policy on pre-employment medicals.
  • The successful candidate must have access to a reliable vehicle with the ability to drive between the Live-in Treatment programs.

Responsibilities:

· Participate in the assessment and intakes of clients referred for the Live-in Treatment program;

  • Ensure that the organization’s policies and procedures for medication administration are adhered to
  • Ongoing monitoring of medications and medication related processes;
  • Evaluate clients for medication side effects, intolerance, possible drug incompatibility, PRN needs, etc and other drug related issues on ongoing basis;
  • Provide staff development, and/or consultation regarding health issues of clients, and psychiatric illness symptomatology;
  • Liaise with pharmacy , hospitals and other community medical practitioners as required;
  • Train staff in medication administration;
  • Work in collaboration with live-in managers and the staff teams;
  • Participate in clinical meetings as appropriate;
  • Support infection prevention and control practices as needed.
