Description:
Microb-AI-ome Research Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) will liaise with the BowelScreen CNM and ANP to identify suitable BowelScreen patients for enrolment into the Micorb-AI-ome study. They will be responsible for contacting the patients to explain the research study background and processes to them. They will send the PIL and consent form and stool collection sample kit to the patient ahead of their scheduled screening colonoscopy. For those BowelScreen patients willing to participate in the study, they will go through and sign the consent form with the patient. They will then assign the patient one of the randomly generated Study IDs.
It is the responsibility of the CNM1 to monitor and store collected stool samples. All patient’s stool samples should be labelled with the study ID and transferred to the -20 freezer in the Liver Centre on the same day. The CNM1 will then arrange for the transfer of patient stool samples to the UCC lab in batches, as per the sample transfer protocol.
The CNM1 will be the contact person for patients enrolled in the study and will provide support to the patients as required. They will complete the diet and lifestyle study questionnaire with the patient either on the day of the procedure or at a later date.
The CNM1 will be responsible for uploading the relevant patient and endoscopy-related data to the study database. They may be asked to assist with other clinical research with the GI service.
