Description:
Are you passionate to make a difference for patients who are faced by complex life-limiting conditions in the acute hospital setting?
Are you prepared to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team at a regional specialist centre for oncology, major trauma, vascular, neurosurgery and renal services?
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse or AHP to join the Specialist Palliative Care Team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated band 7 team member with excellent specialist palliative care knowledge and skills to join our existing team and support patients and families referred to the service.
The Hospital Palliative Care Team strives to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams within the hospitals to deliver best care possible for our patients and those important to them. We also work closely with our local hospice and community palliative care service as well as other Network palliative care teams in order to deliver seamless care for our patients. We are constantly seeking to improve our service to meet the diverse needs of our patients.
You will play an active role, together with the existing members of the palliative care team, in advancing specialist palliative care services and promoting excellence in palliative care and end of life care across the trust. You will be joining a multidisciplinary team which includes Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultants in Palliative Medicine, End of Life Educator and Quality Improvement Facilitator and Lead Nurse across the trust.
We have 10000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
As a registered nurse or AHP with substantial specialist experience of palliative and end of life care, you must be: a NMP (or working towards it / prepared to commence), IT literate, able to set your own plans and priorities, managing your workload to meet targets and timescales. You must be an excellent team worker, but also possess the experience and skills to work on your own initiative and make safe effective decisions in the absence of clinical support. Leadership skills are imperative to the role and you will be taking the lead in aspects of service development.
You will be working alongside the existing nursing and medical staff and will be required to report to the Lead Nurse in Palliative & End of Life Care.
The service covers both Preston and Chorley sites, and you will be part of our seven day service
