REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent)
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting
  • Experience in clinical pharmacy practice
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Detail-oriented and thorough

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medicines, optimising patient outcomes, and contributing to pharmacy governance. You will work closely with a range of healthcare professionals, providing expert pharmaceutical care and advice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver pharmaceutical care to patients, including participation in wards and CCU rounds
  • Conduct clinical checks of prescriptions
  • Monitor treatments
  • Manage antibiotic stewardship
  • Optimise therapeutic outcomes
  • Involve patients in their care and document interventions
  • If qualified, prescribe medications within your field of practice
  • Document and liaise with consultants on significant interventions
  • Supervise the pharmacy dispensary
  • Ensure accurate dispensing and timely release of medicines
  • Manage proper charging
  • Assist with stock procurement and maintenance
  • Control stock effectively
  • Maintain safe processes in the dispensary
  • Adhere to legislation and best practices
  • Supply medicines information to staff and patients
  • Contribute to policy development
  • Attend MDT meetings
  • Adhere to SOPs
  • Participate in clinical audits
  • Attend departmental meetings
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives
  • Train and supervise pharmacy technicians, staff, and work experience students
