Are you keen to work in a newly emerging role supporting practice education?
We are looking for a Clinical Practice Facilitator with broad clinical knowledge and experience in student training to continue to develop our offer for student dietitians on placement with Nutrition and Dietetics at UCLH.
This role was established two years ago and due to an internal promotion we are looking to recruit into this established role for a 12 month fixed term contract based at University College Hospital (UCH).
Working collaboratively, the post holder will support placement co-ordination and organisation, supporting staff in the development of relevant skills, knowledge and competencies. As such it is anticipated that the post holder will continue to drive improvement and innovations in clinical placement capacity and capability in specialist areas of dietetics across the Trust.

The post holder will be supported to produce resources for student dietitians on placement, which may include online tutorials, webinars, online discussions, self-assessments, case studies, and simulation in collaboration with specialist dietitians, other members of staff and they will work with peers in the Division of Medicine and the MSc Dietetics programme at UCL.

  • To build upon the existing structure and programme for student dietitians on clinical placement within Nutrition & Dietetics at UCLH, through collaboration and adoption of non-traditional placement models.
  • To promote and support innovation in practice-based education for student dietitians.
  • To promote a suitable learning environment for student dietitians on placement in the Nutrition and Dietetics department.
  • To ensure that clinical education across the department is research based and conforms to evidence-based guidelines.
  • To support development of staff to provide high standard of care facilitating them to be able to teach and supervise others.
  • To use quality improvement methodology and developing recommendations through assessment and feedback mechanisms related to the effectiveness of education programmes.
  • To work in accordance with UCLH Nursing, Midwifery AHP and Pharmacy Strategy and contribute towards achieving the Trust objectives in relation to education and workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for provision of high-quality student practice placement and practice placement expansion in line regional priorities including fair-share model.
  • To produce evidence-based resources for student dietitians. These may include online tutorials, webinars, online discussions, self-assessments, case studies, simulation, problem solving, concept mapping, and interactive learning objects in collaboration with specialist Dietitians, other members of staff, the Division of Medicine and MSc Dietetics programme at UCL.
  • To act as point of contact for Dietetics department in managing and resolving student related concerns or incidents, as well as to act as primary link to HEI’s.
  • To promote an inclusive teaching and practice placement environment.
  • To liaise with internal and external stakeholders including local forums/workstreams, HEI’s, student leads and link lecturers.
  • To evaluate and maintain quality of delivery of student practice placement provision.
  • To support staff in the development of their own structured educational pathways; provide career coaching for junior members of the department.
  • To support junior staff members and others as required, facilitating the acquisition and development of relevant skills, knowledge and competencies to support and improve clinical placement capacity and capability in specialist areas of dietetics across the service.
  • To promote and maintain effective communication and disseminate information related to practice education and development.
  • To facilitate acquisition of the necessary skills, knowledge and competency by staff and their mentors in designated areas within the trust
  • To promote and implement the practice development strategy for UCLH
  • To promote and facilitate the provision of a high standard of holistic patient-centred care.
