Description:

COME AND JOIN ONE OF THE UK’S LARGEST PROVIDERS OF COMPLEX CARE. WE PROUDLY EMPLOY OVER 4000+ PEOPLE - NO MATTER WHAT YOUR EXPERIENCE, WE HAVE JOBS FOR EVERYONE.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist / Neuropsychologist (Band 7 preceptorship or Band 8a depending on experience) to join our Neuropsychology Department at the renowned Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre.
This is a full-time permanent position. For the preceptorship role, there will be a structured framework to acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience required to progress to Band 8a once competencies have been met. The post will provide an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills in clinical neuropsychology, and you will play an important role in our growing and innovative neuropsychology department, working as part of a friendly and supportive team
Minutes away from the pretty cafes and boutiques of leafy Greenwich, the Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre is comprised of two inpatient wards; a Level 1C highly specialist ward for patients with cognitive and behavioural difficulties following brain injury and a Level 2A ward for patients with higher physical dependency as well as cognitive and behavioural needs.
You will be working as part of a wider, highly experienced and passionate multidisciplinary team (neurorehabilitation medicine, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, social activities coordinators) where you will develop complex clinical reasoning in regard to assessment, formulation, and rehabilitation.
We are committed to the continuing professional development of our team and offer full funding opportunities to complete the QiCN for those interested in progressing their neuropsychology career. We also offer a flexible working approach with some opportunities to work from home depending on service need.
If you are passionate about neurological rehabilitation, delivering high-quality patient care, and enjoy working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist neuropsychological assessment and intervention for inpatients with neurological conditions (such as head injury, cerebral tumours and stroke)
  • Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of rehabilitation and condition management programmes for patients with neuropsychological disorders
  • Undertake assessment of capacity for individual patients and provide advice to other health professionals on psychological aspects of capacity assessment and appropriate means of enabling patients with reduced capacity to engage in informed decision making
  • Develop, implement and monitor formal psychological intervention plans for a patient’s emotional difficulties
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients and to provide advice to other health professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management
  • Provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other health professionals contributing directly to patients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan
  • Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, formulation and clinical interventions with patients, seeking appropriate supervision for clinical decision making
  • Provide appropriate verbal and written symptom management advice to patients, their families or carers as appropriate
  • With appropriate supervision, maintain and promulgate the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing, and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with the BPS professional codes of practice and ACG policies and procedures
  • Keep people safe from any harm and protect their human rights.
