Description:
This is an exciting opportunity t o work with in , and be part of, a growing C linical H ealth P sychology Service based in Royal Preston Hospital. This particular post provides specialist clinical psychology input to the Pain Management Service and wider MDT. This includes providing input within the key Psychology pathway s (outpatient and inpatient), to the Pain Management Programme.
Direct individual and group work are also key parts of the role . The post is supported by the Lead Pain Psychologist for outpatients and the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Pain Management, as well as the Head of the Clinical Health Psychology Service, clinical colleagues, and key stakeholders in the Clinical Business Unit.
You will ideally have experience of working within a physical health population, and of working with individuals living with persistent pain and/or long-term conditions. You will have experience of working within MDT settings and be motivated and capable to learn and develop and build relationships with a range of other key professionals and services. There will be an expectation to undertake extended roles and responsibilities within Clinical Health Psychology Services and to work flexibly across the services overall (including inpatient and outpatient working ) as required and directed by the Consultant Clinical P sychologist and /or Head of Service .
The post is available as a preceptorship for band 7 clinical psychologists who may be interested in developing skills in working in this area. Completion of the preceptorship, and commencement o f a band 8a banding, will require the completion of key pre-established criteria, to be regularly reviewed through supervision and formal appraisal .

Responsibilities:
To provide a specialist adult psychology service across the Pain Service Pathways and within the Clinical Health Psychology Service.
To deliver highly specialist psychological assessment, intervention, advice and consultation for patients ’, other health professionals and carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and frameworks governing each clinical area.
The deliver this work across both inpatient and outpatient pathways, and any other settings in which the service is currently, appropriately, provided.
To contribute to the provision of integrated multidisciplinary care (joint appointments and MDT assessment clinics) across the inpatient and outpatient pathways to patients referred by our MDT colleagues.
To train and support MDT colleagues in psychologically informed care (education, consultation and clinical supervision).
To contribute to MDT promotion of patient need, clinical symptoms and approaches to care.
To work in collaboration with the consultant clinical psychologists, MDT colleagues, and key stakeholders.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and frameworks governing each clinical area.
To actively engage in own professional and leadership development, including reflective practice.
To routinely undertake research, audit and service evaluation projects, including reports of clinical activity and effectiveness.
To work flexibly across CHPs pathways as required and directed by the Head of Service.
