Description:
Band 8A (preceptorship available at Band 7 until two years post qualification).
We are looking for a creative, forward thinking and motivated Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling/Forensic) to join our friendly and professional multi-disciplinary team of psychologists working within community learning disability services across Cambridgeshire.
You will be part of a team of psychologists (including Principal Clinical Psychologists, other Highly Specialist Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists) led by a Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist. This psychology team works as part of our multidisciplinary adult community learning disability services. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated growing team who make a difference to patients, carers and the teams you will work with. You will also play a key role in service development and evaluation.
You will be working alongside the multi-disciplinary team within the City and South locations to provide high quality assessment and interventions for adults with learning disabilities and their families/carers. There will be specific responsibilities and duties within the team (see more detailed job description).
You will also work alongside other practitioner psychologists and assistant psychologists to improve the psychology offer across the five learning disability partnership teams, providing exciting opportunity to contribute to developing clinical pathways and innovative practice. You will receive professional leadership support and line management from within a friendly and innovative psychology team.
Working Environment
To work with service users who have a learning disability within the community, in supported living, residential settings and in their own homes. There may also be some work within inpatient settings, if a service user is admitted. We anticipate that there will be lone working in the community environments, where there is an expectation to follow the relevant safety protocols. To work with clients and carers who at times are experiencing high levels of distress and some of whom may present verbal and physical challenges.
This work is likely to involve a significant amount of travel across Cambridgeshire and as there are often poor public transport links in rural areas, it is highly recommended that you have a driving license and access to a car.
