This position with the Wharton Lab with Emory University Nell Hodgson School of Nursing will support multiple clinical trials and observational research studies focused on Alzheimer’s Disease prevention in underserved communities. Duties include facilitating all aspects of study visits as described in study protocols. Position will assist with participant recruitment and outreach on a regular basis. Preferred candidates will be certified/experienced in phlebotomy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED and three years of administrative support experience.
  • Or two years of college in a scientific, health related, or business administration program and one year of admin support or customer service experience.
  • Or be a licensed as a practical nurse (LPN) and one year admin support or one year of licensed practical nursing experience.
  • Or a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, MD or PhD in a scientific, health related or business administration program.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in human subjects research and/or biospecimens.
  • Familiarity with data entry and data quality control processes.
  • Knowledge of data management systems such as REDCap or Qualtrics.
  • Experience with complex scheduling.
  • Experience managing students.
  • Phlebotomy certified.
    This position is intended to support clinical research and all clinical training requirements must be tracked and monitored through Emory Healthcare under the credentialing category of Clinical Researcher.
    NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains data pertaining to research projects, completes source documents/case report forms, and performs data entry.
  • Assists with patient recruitment.
  • Attends study meetings.
  • Orders and maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Reviews medical records and/or conducts screenings for recruitment of study participants, performs interviews and QOL questionnaires.
  • Collects study specimen according to protocol which may include phlebotomy, processing, and preparation for shipping.
  • Coordinates services, schedules procedures, creates and maintains case packages, and monitors charges.
  • Assists with quality assurance and tracks regulatory submissions.
  • Performs related approved responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completing all required trainings for research study coordinators as outlined by Emory University’s Office of Clinical Research and study specific protocols within four months of hire.
  • Learn and execute all study procedures per study protocols, including but not limited to: blood draws, cognitive testing, assisting in lumbar punctures, escorting to MRI visits, performing vascular ultrasounds, participant follow up, laboratory specimen processing and biofluid storage management.
  • Managing all data entry in physical and digital form, data quality control, and database systems required for research projects. Ensure that all study documents are completed and stored properly.
  • Preparing for and coordinating all internal and external monitoring visits or study audits. Will be responsible for reporting all findings to study team.
  • Communicating project updates to the study teams on a set daily and weekly schedule.
  • Scheduling all study visits and participant phone calls necessary to study enrollment.Leading student research assistants in successfully completing lab goals, including scheduling and training.
