Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an excellent opportunity to build a research career and be a part of a translational research programme that includes both scientists and clinicians. The post holders will be expected to register towards a higher research degree. You would join a multidisciplinary research programme focused on the investigation of volatile biomarkers in cancer to develop breath tests for disease diagnosis/ monitoring response to chemotherapy and understanding the mechanisms for volatile production and augmentation. The scope of the research will entail clinical trials, organoid and microbiome work, various mass spectrometry analytical techniques and scientific laboratory skills in collaboration with scientists across Imperial College and other universities.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
Provide a commitment to Imperial College London over a period to perform research leading to a higher research degree (MD(Res), PhD
- Ensure ALS, ATLS and PALS (where appropriate) qualifications are up to date
- Provide regular resident medical officer support to a named hospital on a rota (without cover)
- Provide urgent and immediate clinical support for patients in response to verbal or written requests by admitting Consultants and or Registered nursing staff
- Ensure timekeeping, high clinical standards and six weeks notification of upcoming study/annual leave (maximum six weeks per year)
- Inform the administration at the Department regarding duties they feel unqualified to perform, or that are considered inappropriate
- Provide three months of notice if they wish to resign from the post
