Description:
POSTING SUMMARY
Coordinate startup and implementation of clinical research protocols in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine in the Department of Medicine. Recruit potential research subjects with severe acute and/or chronic lung disease and critical illness through consent process while exercising judgement and sensitivity. Prepare initial and ongoing regulatory submissions, continuously manage secure research data, and report to investigators, sponsors, and other agencies. Liaise with hospital providers, UVMMC clinics, and clinics in the UVMMC network to recruit potential study subjects. Perform pulmonary function testing and outcomes testing associated with pulmonary and critical care research studies and coordinate collection, processing, storage, and shipment of human biological specimens. Perform administrative functions including preparation of initial and ongoing IRB submissions, data management, and reporting to regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and one to three years of related experience required. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within clinical research required. Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Effective interpersonal skills and organizational skills required. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications required.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Phlebotomy experience, or willing to complete training in phlebotomy through a provided course preferred. Prior experience in a clinical research lab desirable. Experience with face-to-face interactions with hospitalized patients and their loved ones preferred.
