Description:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Neonatal Sister with strong clinical leadership skills, who will lead the day-to-day running of the neonatal unit . You will be responsible for demonstrating clinical leadership whilst working as a Band 7 as well as role modelling for those moving into more senior roles. As part of your role , you will be involved with planning staffing, monitoring and reviewing sickness, undertaking appraisals, whilst engaging teams in developing pathways for our Neonatal Unit and Transitional Care.
This exciting development opportunity is for a Neonatal Sister with evidence of postgraduate personal development, leadership, and coaching skills who is committed to improving neonatal outcomes and Family Integrated Care (FiC) and supporting staff from a clinical and non-clinical perspective within our neonatal and maternity services.
The ideal candidate will be highly visible and approachable to manage a very dynamic neonatal unit with at least two years as a Band 6 and taking charge of the unit. The Neonatal Sister will be working alongside the Neonatal Matron to ensure high quality care is provided to mothers and babies that is both safe and effective.

Work in accordance with the NMC’s rules and standards for nurses and midwives. Ensure that other NMC documents/standards and Trust policies/guidelines are adhered to. Maintain and develop professional knowledge and competence in accordance with the NMC recommendations.
Implement recommendations from Government and professional bodies in relation to neonatal care in particular in line with the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) standards National Service Framework for Children, Young People and Maternity Services 2004 and Baby Friendly Initiative. Tool kit for High-Quality Neonatal Service 2010.
Work in collaboration and under the guidance of the Clinical Midwifery
To monitor the standards of cleanliness within your designated area, take appropriate action to rectify deficiencies. To act as a clinical role model promoting professional, competent standards, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team.
Act as a role model for excellent nursing practice to all staff within the neonatal unit. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, reflecting and understanding the need to communicate effectively with the
women, their families, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
Achieve an environment that provides learning and professional development for all.
Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
