Description:
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this Clinical Specialist post is to:
1) Lead the development of cancer related dietetics and clinical nutrition in the Dept of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
2) Lead the development and delivery of clinical practice, nutrition care pathways and competence development frameworks in the cancer dietitian team. The team delivers care to both medical oncology and surgical cancer patients at the Mater Hospital.
3) Carry an appropriate clinical caseload of cancer /cancer surgery patients, including those with cancer related intestinal failure. The caseload will include those on home parenteral nutrition and or fluid/electrolyte dependent. Assigned caseload cohort will rotate as different pathway projects are completed and consideration given to dietitian team development, including case comanagement to support professional development of self and others.
4) Collaborate with the Clinical Specialist Dietitian working in Complex Nutrition support on
parenteral nutrition and home parenteral nutrition service delivery, including cover planning,
development and training .
5) Lead the development of prehabilitation and survivorship submissions, representation and pathway dvelopment in cancer and surgical care for the department.
6) Develop patient feedback and evaluation into service evaluation and outcome measurement.
7) Partake in the Mater Nutrition Steering Committee with respect to “nutrition in cancer”
8) The exact duties and responsibilities may change as the department needs change. The post will be evaluated after year 1, with job description changes as needed following the evaluation.
