  • Encourage and maintain effective communication, partnership and collaboration links with other disciplines and groups on the complex.
  • Lead, manage and participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Attend meetings as a Clinical Specialist and sit on committees as required.
  • Take responsibility for keeping the department in general and their work area clean, tidy and safe.
  • Carry out such duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned by the Allied Therapy Manager.
  • Promote and maintain a high level of staff morale hence promoting team spirit and job satisfaction among Physiotherapists.
  • Assist in the daily operational management of the services.

Responsibilities:

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

1 . PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.1. Design, co-ordinate and lead an effective and efficient outpatient Physiotherapy Oncology Service, based on assessment of needs.
1.2. To assess, plan and deliver or oversee exercise and physical activity treatment programmes for patients undergoing oncology treatment pathways, including class-based interventions[AM1] [IB2] .
1.3. Develop and administer the highest quality of service by identifying and implementing operational procedures in line with best practice standards.
1.4. Keep abreast with new developments, skills and technology to ensure continuing competence in the job.
1.5. Enhance his/her skills in order to initiate and respond to changes in the work environment as additional roles may be demanded e.g. data analysis, clinical audit, continued professional development and research.
1.6. Cross cover into other areas of the Physiotherapy service in line with service demands, with some inpatient oncology service [AM3] as an ongoing part of the role.

2 . MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

2.1. To lead and co-ordinate the Physiotherapy Oncology outpatient service in co-operation with the Allied Therapy Manager and Oncology Service Manager
2.2. To participate in the management of the Physiotherapy Service as a member of the Senior Physiotherapy Management team in co-operation with the Physiotherapy Manager. To deputise from time to time for Physiotherapy Manager.
2.3. To create and promote good working relationships through open communication.
2.4. To contribute to and participate in the staff induction, staff appraisal and in-service training programmes.
2.5. To actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the position.
2.6. To maintain appropriate records and statistics sufficient for organisational and legal purposes to include work related injuries/incidents.
2.7. To produce a service report for the Physiotherapy Annual Report.
2.8. To maintain and update an asset register of appropriate equipment in conjunction with the Asset Register of the hospital.
2.9. To regularly review and update the Oncology Policy documents or to delegate these duties to competent Senior in relevant area.
2.10. To be responsible for overseeing equipment safety tests, both electrical and non
electrical, in accordance with the Physiotherapy Department’s Safety Policy.
