Description:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for researching and developing all best practices within their purview and continually evaluating our end users’ needs.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in an area of position focus such as business, information systems, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, or imaging sciences preferred.
A minimum of ten relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Five years of relevant Informatics experience required

Responsibilities:
- Manages the assigned modules and clinical applications to evaluate best practices within the profession continually and manages assigned projects to ensure utilization of the most efficient version available.
- Leads clinical software application installation, implementation, testing, modification, and utilization.
- Consults with staff to determine group and individual needs with clinical applications and coordinate and oversee efforts to meet these needs.
- Provides ongoing analysis, maintenance, and centralized functional support for clinical software applications. Leads and guides others in identifying, assessing, and resolving system problems. Independently comes to conclusions and implements corrective actions.
- Conducts and coordinates with system users all clinical software application upgrades with minimal system downtime.
- Leads clinical software application evaluation, selection, and implementation process by performing needs analysis, identifying vendors, participating in software demonstrations and assessments, and coordinating implementation projects.
- Evaluates workflow and recommends re-engineering of processes around utilization and effectiveness of computerized applications to maximize departmental and organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Works with St. Claire revenue-generating and revenue-collection departments to ensure that possible charge opportunities are captured and set up appropriately in the chargemaster.
