About the role:
Part-time (minimum one day a week) clinical teachers are required to teach in Primary Care General Dentistry for Outreach that delivers all aspects of primary care dentistry to adult and adolescent patients attending student clinics.
This post would be ideally suited to an experienced or a specialist dental practitioner with an interest in the education of dental students. A major aspect of the posts is to provide clinical teaching and support for the training of BDS undergraduate students. Clinical teachers will also be expected to deliver seminars and possibly lectures, assess students and provide feedback on their performance. Support will be provided if needed.
This post will be based at: West Norwood Site Outreach Clinic at the West Norwood Health & Leisure Centre.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria

  • BDS or equivalent fully registerable primary dental qualification
  • Ability to supervise undergraduate students.
  • Enthusiastic approach to teaching.
  • Significant demonstrable post qualification experience and expertise.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Commitment to ethical workplace behaviour.
  • Regular attendance and good time keeping.
  • Meet the UK right to work requirements.

Desirable Criteria

  • Specialist qualification and Specialist listing
  • MSc or similar in a relevant clinical discipline
  • FDS, MFDS, MJDF or equivalent
  • Certificate or other qualification in teaching
