Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time and part time position as a Clinical Trials Assistant. The post holder will be a member of the Sheffield Cancer Clinical Trial Centre, based at Weston Park Cancer Centre.
The Sheffield CCTC is a joint venture between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The CCTC is a specially equipped unit with a Clinical Research Unit (CRU) to deliver research treatments to patients. It is devoted to ensuring that research is conducted to the highest standards and providing research participants with excellent quality of care.
Under the direction and supervision of the Research Nurse Team the Clinical Trials Assistant will:
Organise, manage, and prioritise their own administrative case load of clinical trials, in conjunction with the responsible Team Leader/Research Nurse.
Attend Multi-disciplinary Meetings, and appropriate clinics, to screen and identify potential new participants with the possibility of working in out of hours clinical setting.
Work with the Team Leader/Research Nurse/ project leader in co-ordinating the patient’s journey through the clinical trial e.g. requisition and organisation of any necessary investigations and tests as detailed within the study protocol.
Undertake practical and theoretical training in venepuncture, venous cannulation and ECG Recording and demonstrate competency and safe practice.
