Description:

The Vascular Laboratory at King’s College Hospital is recruiting for Clinical Vascular Scientists. Applications are invited from those with accreditation with Society for Vascular Technology (SVT/CSVS) or HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in vascular science.
Please note that this post includes Inner London HCAS, and recruitment and retention premium of £5000 with a salary range £59320 to £65981 depending on experience
Applications are also encouraged from those working towards a qualification in vascular ultrasound to be considered at band 6
Interviews are scheduled for 20th December, but flexible to accommodate availability.

The Vascular lab is one of the busiest vascular ultrasound departments around and represents an amazing opportunity to develop your skills in this area. We perform a complete set of vascular ultrasound investigations including;

  • Transcranial imaging for the national paediatric sickle cell screening program
  • Renal artery and transplant kidney
  • Vascular access for dialysis fistula and mapping including for endo-AVF
  • Specialist work for diabetic foot including pedal arterial and ultra-distal bypass graft surveillance
  • Urgent scans for vasculitis such as GCA pathways
  • Guidance for endo-venous work
  • All the usual scans such as peripheral arterial and venous and carotid.

The department is fully committed to providing individually tailored support to enable you to add to your existing experience, so full training can be provided in areas not already within your scope, and as a big team we always aim to ensure sufficient senior support is available while encouraging independent practice.
Many of our team will be at the CSVS annual scientific meeting in Brighton this year so come and say hello and ask informally about the department or arrange an informal visit, we look forward to seeing you there!
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching Trusts with a turnover of c£1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 15,000 staff based across South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. The trust-wide strategy of Strong Roots, Global Reach is our Vision to be BOLD, Brilliant people, Outstanding care, Leaders in Research, Innovation and Education, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at the heart of everything we do. By being person-centred, digitally-enabled, and focused on sustainability, we aim to take Team King’s to another level.
We are at a pivotal point in our history and we require individuals who are ready to join a highly professional team and make a real, lasting difference to our patients and our people.
King’s is committed to delivering Sustainable Healthcare for All via our Green Plan. In line with national Greener NHS ambitions, we have set net zero carbon targets of 2040 for our NHS Carbon Footprint and 2045 for our NHS Carbon Footprint Plus. Everyone’s contribution is required in order to meet the goals set out in our Green Plan and we encourage all staff to work responsibly, minimising their contributions to the Trust’s carbon emissions, waste and pollution wherever possible.
We ensure all scientists have allocated time away from direct patient care to participate in audit and project work and we have had multiple projects presented at a variety of conferences. Including prize winner papers produced by the team. We also have a daily co-ordinator role which everyone participates in.
Vascular scientists at King’s are respected members of a variety of different MDTs within the Trust including vascular, neurovascular, renal and haematology and we encourage active participation in these groups.
The role will be mainly based at the Denmark Hill site but will require some cross site working at Princess Royal University Hospital and others.
We encourage all scientists to develop their careers. We have a strong history of building our staff, our senior team of six Band 8 scientists all started here as trainees or in band 7 roles. We place high value in our team
