Description:

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is currently seeking a Full Time Clinician for our West Side Children’s Counseling program located in Jersey City, NJ.
West Side Children’s Counseling Center (WSCC) offers various modalities of counseling, psychiatric evaluation, case management and medication management services specially designed for children and adolescents. Program is located in Jersey City serving the youth of Hudson County.
Schedule: M,T,W 11-7; Thurs 10-6; Fri 9-5

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters degree in a behavioral health or social work discipline
  • LSW or LAC
    Bi-lingual (English- Spanish) a plus. 2 years of experience preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to manage positive engagement of clients, including parents and guardians, and crisis situations required as is a strengths based perspective. Knowledge of the NJ children’s system of care strongly preferred. Previous experience working with children and families in Hudson County a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical services -individual, family and group therapy- to children 5- 21 and their parents/guardians
  • Complete bio-psychosocial assessments, progress notes, treatment plans and treatment plan updates, statistics and other required paperwork
  • Provide information and referral information and make collateral contacts as needed
  • Schedule client appojntments and call clients to follow-up on scheduled or missed appointments and document those contacts
  • Engage parents/guardians and provide parent education and support related to the youth’s identified issues
  • Manage and report on critical situations requiring special interventions -mandatory reporting, psychiatric crisis intervention, safety planning, contacts by/with justice system or childrens system of care
  • Notify psychiatrist of important medication or MH status changes as they present
  • Strength based approach and knowledge and use of clinical best practices for work with youth required.
