CLOUD DATA ARCHITECT (SNOWFLAKE) - £70-75,000 +BENEFITS – LONDON/HYBRID

The Chaucer Group is a leading insurance group who help protect industries around the world from the risks they face. With UK headquarters in London, we also have international offices in Bermuda, Copenhagen, Dubai, and Singapore, and have doubled in size over the last four years.
Chaucer have an ambitious data strategy that has been fully approved by the Board. This data strategy involves a migration to cloud based technology.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) on an initial 12 month FTC to join our growing team. As a key member of our Data department, the Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) will play a crucial role in the adoption and migration to a Azure cloud data platform.
The Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) will contribute to the design, implementation, maintenance and performance optimization of our cloud data platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Snowflake and data modelling with a history of migrating on-prem Data Warehouses to cloud data lakes
The Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) will engage with multiple stakeholders - Data Governance, Data Strategy, Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Visualisation and Chaucer Technology Group to accelerate the adoption of Snowflake.

On a daily basis the duties of the Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) will include:

  • Oversee the production of data architecture project deliverables, including logical data diagrams, data flow diagrams, data dissemination diagrams, data migration, data life cycle diagrams, common data models, data roadmaps, as well as conceptual, logical and physical data models.
  • Analyse data lineage of complex systems from operational to analytical data sets
  • Document existing Data Warehouse data models and data pipelines in preparation for migration to cloud data platform.
  • Create new efficient data models and data pipelines supporting the medallion architecture of the data lake.
  • Ensure the flow of data within Chaucer is as efficient as possible.
  • In an Agile environment create Stories and Tasks for the Data Engineering Team.
  • Develop and maintain master data and reference data management framework and maximise re-use of both across Chaucer.

To be considered as our new Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) you must have most of the following experience:

Skills & Competencies

  • Migration experience from on-prem to Cloud
  • experience of designing efficient data models in Snowflake
  • Data pipeline development and optimization
  • Kimball data modelling
  • Knowledge of modern cloud data frameworks and models – Data Lake, Data Lakehouse, Data Fabric and Data Mesh.
