Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for a Advanced Information Technologist – Cloud Engineer to join our growing Data Analytics Engineering & Integration team in Ridley Park, PA; Seattle, WA; or Hazelwood, MO. This team is tasked with transforming the way BDS data is sourced, managed, and utilized to unlock insights to drive business growth and optimization. The team supports data needs for internal stakeholders, across BDS business programs and functions, and is tasked with utilizing data to inform and improve the full lifecycle of BDS products.
In this role, you will be a thought leader in how to design, implement, manage, and scale data pipelines in support of the BDS Data Analytics Platform leveraging modern cloud architecture design, hybrid cloud technologies, data migration technologies, and others. You will be responsible for crafting data pipelines and deploying them in a cloud infrastructure.
This role requires a resourceful, self-driven, outcome-oriented individual with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to partner, execute, and communicate skillfully, while solving complex problems in dynamic environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with large scale data platforms, cloud computing, hybrid clouds, software development, and requirements management.
Position Responsibilities:
Participates in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
Design and develop cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services that meet the organization’s requirements. This includes selecting the appropriate cloud platform, creating architecture diagrams, and developing automation scripts.
Deep understanding of cloud architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and security.
Proficiency in cloud services and tools (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda for AWS; VMs, Blob Storage, Azure Functions for Azure; Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions for GCP).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
Deploy new applications to the cloud and migrate existing applications from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud while ensuring the migration process is seamless without disruption to the organization’s operations.
Monitor the performance of cloud-based systems, optimize resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and high availability, troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise within the cloud-based infrastructure.
Implement security measures such as encryption and access controls with regular audits of the cloud environment to ensure compliance.
Manages progress to plan, risks, and opportunities with team members, program leadership, stakeholders, and customers
Works closely and collaborates with partner and enterprise technical organizations
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform 1 day a week onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience in cloud computing and infrastructure management.
Proven experience with at least one major cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
3+ years of experience moving applications to Docker and Kubernetes or managing applications in Docker and Kubernetes
Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications
Experience with collaboration tools Atlassian Jira and Confluence
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in cross-functional teams and leading technical projects.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience with AWS GovCloud
1+ years of Agile and/or SAFe Agile
Experience with multi-cloud architectures
Experience in the aviation industry or other regulated industries
Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect).

This is the pay range that the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position 86.67/hour - $90.30/hour
