We’re seeking a Cloud Engineer & Lab Architect to join our Courseware Development Team in a combined role that blends cloud engineering, virtualization, virtual environments, and hands-on-lab architecture to support the delivery of experiential learning in both instructor-led and self-paced/on-demand courses by managing, maintaining, and evolving our hands-on-labs infrastructure. This role will be responsible for maintenance tasks and leading the strategic development of future architecture to reduce COGS and improve scalability. As a cybersecurity SaaS company specializing in SIEM and UEBA, this role is essential for ensuring that our learning environments meet the current and future needs of our customers and partners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVES):
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with expertise in lab architecture and virtualization across platforms like AWS, GCP, and Terraform.
- Strong experience managing virtual environments and infrastructure security (e.g., SSH key blockers, firewalls).
- Proficiency in automation tools like Terraform, , and scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Experience managing infrastructure for SIEM or UEBA products in both cloud-native and on-prem environments.
HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KEY DISCRIMINATORS):
- Proven success in reducing COGS through cloud optimizations and architecture improvements.
- Experience in managing SaaS-based training environments and virtualization workflows.
- Deep knowledge of security best practices and how they apply to training lab environments.
- Familiarity with automation workflows for deploying lab environments via snapshots and pre-configured states.

Responsibilities:
- 50% - Cloud Engineering & Lab Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the hands-on-lab environments, including destruction and deployment of virtual machines, maintaining virtual networks, and managing cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and on-prem systems.
- Perform weekly lab cleanup (20-40 minutes) and handle any lab-related scheduling.
- Ensure the hands-on labs reflect the most up-to-date configurations and can be deployed on-demand for instructor-led training (ILT) or self-paced learners.
- Manage security measures to address SSH key blockers, firewall issues, and ensure secure user access within VPCs.
- Work on automation and optimization, ensuring that the infrastructure supports efficient scaling while driving down COGS.
- 30% - Lab Architecture Design & Future Strategy
- Design and develop future architectures for hands-on-labs, ideating improvements that align with the company’s business model and reduce operational costs significantly.
- Automate deployment of labs based on snapshots and pre-configured environments, ensuring consistency and efficiency in lab delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, optimize resources, and implement infrastructure improvements.
- Design, build, and configure virtual lab environments based on technical requirements provided by subject matter experts (SMEs) to support training programs and enablement initiatives for SaaS solutions.
- 15% - Ownership Transfers and Security Compliance
- Manage and transfer ownership for tools like Terraform Cloud, GitHub, etc.etc. to ensure smooth handovers and ongoing lab support.
- Handle access control and security compliance for GCP, PSR Log Feed Tool, and other critical infrastructure components.
- Ensure consistent security measures are in place, working closely with the security team to address risks like firewall bypasses and SSH key blockers.
- 5% - Project Team Meetings
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to align your work with team goals and timelines.
- Provide feedback on blockers, challenges, and completed work, ensuring smooth collaboration with cross-functional teams.
