JOB TITLE: Senior Devops Engineer
SALARY: The salary banding for this role is £78,849 - £87,610 for London and £68,202 – £75,780 for outside of London with significant other benefits
LOCATION(S): Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and London
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: At least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.
About this opportunity
The Cloud Platform team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group that will be at the core of one of the UK’s biggest financial service transformations. We’re looking for a Cloud Network Engineer to join our Native Cloud team within the Cloud Platform.
The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious team with the purpose of driving our technology modernisation agenda and enable Lloyds Banking Group to become the biggest Fintech in the UK.
We’re seeking an experienced, motivated and innovative hands-on Cloud focussed Devops Engineer. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer role. You’ll be a technical inspiring senior engineer and experienced at driving the delivery of new technical platforms.

What you’ll need

  • Engineering experience building, configuring, and optimizing GCP based networking at enterprise scale. This should include workloads that utilise GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Storage buckets etc. Coupled with corresponding ancillary function such as identity and networking requirements (Dedicated Interconnect, VPC peering, Cloud Routers, Firewalls, Google DNS, Cloud NAT, IAM and VPC SC)
  • Hands on experience on network projects in the areas of network sustaining engineering, network deployment/implementation, network scaling, technology refresh and network optimization.
  • Experience of DevOps concepts and deploying CI/CD pipelines using cloud native and third-party tooling – Git, HashiCorp Vault, Terraform Cloud, Harness, Jenkins
  • Familiarity with a network focused hands-on technical role working with routing protocols/technologies and platforms in large scale data centre and/or WAN network environments.
  • Ability to closely work with our Networks, Systems, and Software Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products, as well as assist with deployment and sustaining of networking software tools.
  • Experienced in building continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
  • Able to write Bash and/or Python scripts.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as a code (IaC) ideally in Terraform
  • Certified GCP Professional Cloud Engineer (one of the Professional Cloud DevOps, Network or Security Engineer qualifications)
  • Recent experience designing and delivering hybrid-cloud platforms and services, automated API-driven systems with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and agile delivery models
  • Able to follow and iteratively improve product team owned services as GCP and other cloud-based products mature + develop new features where emerging technologies present an opportunity
  • Ability to work with architectural, business and other engineering leads to shape, design and engineer solutions, along with collaborating with a team of engineers to deliver product team artifacts and dependencies
  • Continuous curiosity to learn and develop themselves with proven industry methods and tooling.

Any experience of these would be really useful

  • Familiarity implementing GCP/Azure cloud infrastructure and their various services.
  • Proficient in Bash, Python, Go, Groovy, with understanding of API management.
  • Experience working with Egress Proxies, IP Management, SMTP / Mail gateway, SMEE / Webhook Delivery.
  • Experience and thorough understanding of the Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with high-traffic monitoring systems. Implementing logging (Grafana/Prometheus), telemetry (Dynatrace), and tracing is ideal.
  • Excellent eye for security and creating secure systems.
  • Comfortable with fast-paced change and ability to demonstrate comfort with ambiguity, adapt quickly and be effective in new situations in a highly dynamic setting.
  • Data-driven but also imaginative and intuitive in coming up with ideas and solutions.
  • Proven track record balancing multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.
