REQUIREMENTS:

• A Grade 12 certificate as a minimum requirement
• Formal CNC operator qualification.
• Valid and unendorsed driver’s license.
• On the job training.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation with specific reference to the OSHACT, Mine Health and Safety Act and construction regulation.
• Computer literacy (Office 365)
• A minimum of 3 years of operating CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines.
• Quality control knowledge and ability to read engineering drawings.
• A systematic, logical and analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
• Excellent communication skills – English.
• Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels.
• Immediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments.
• Instruments knowledge should include, but are not limited to callipers, ID and OD micrometres, depth gages, indicators and scales.
• Immediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions.
• Immediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines.
• Must be able to operate lifting devices for movement of parts.
• Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
• Must be willing and able to work changing work schedules and overtime when required.
• Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
• Must have a basic understanding of profitability and contribution

DUTIES:

• Responsible for machining/grinding quality parts on the CNC machines such as but not limited Lathe and Grinder.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining of a daily Machining Schedule.
• Responsible for keeping track of raw materials and stock levels.
• Responsible for loading parts, moving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts.
• Quality control measurements for machined components.
• Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces,sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
• Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machines, controls or control media as required.
• Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
• Operate lifting devices for movement of parts.
• Assist the Circular Economy Centre and Engineering team with any machining needs.
• Communicate with manager, engineers, sales personnel, QEHS and other personnel to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Full responsibility for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance.
• Will be required to adhere and comply with quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Take part (assisting) in the annual stock take.
• Work overtime when required.
