• Utilize mathematical knowledge and precision instruments like micrometres and Vernier callipers to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
• Machine parts to precise specifications using various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.
• Measure, examine, and test finished units to detect defects and ensure they meet specifications, employing precision instruments such as micrometres.
• Set up, adjust, and operate both basic and specialized machine tools to carry out precision machining operations.
• Review sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering documentation to determine the methods and sequences required for fabrication, as well as to establish product dimensions and tolerances.
• Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose malfunctions and determine if adjustments or repairs are needed.
• Maintain industrial machines by applying knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
• Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains, and other contaminants.Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing, using expertise in machine functions, metal properties, and mathematics.
