Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $49.20/Hr. - CAD $63.47/Hr.
Summary:
Providence Health Care is currently seeking a Patient Educator for its Trancatheter Heart Valve Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital.
This is a Regular, Full-Time BCNU Level 4 position, and work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 15:30.

Reporting to the Operations Leader and working in collaboration with the Chief of Nursing for Professional Practice Issues, the Patient Educator:

  • coordinates the day to day operations of a designated service and supervises staff
  • acts as a clinical resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members in the provision of direct care to patients
  • assists in the promotion of research and quality improvement initiatives within the service
  • teaches patients and families self-care, promoting their own abilities to develop and maintain healthy behaviours within the context of an illness or disease
  • develops, implements and evaluates approved patient education programs

What You Bring:

EDUCATION

Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant plus three years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to supervise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to deal with and promote change.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Ability to teach and lead group sessions.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and develop educational programs.
  • Ability to provide and/or develop resource materials including educational materials.
  • Ability to coach and counsel individuals and families.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work independently.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to operate related equipment, including computers.
