Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Oncology CNS Team within the Cancer and Associated Specialty Division at the City Campus.
The successful candidate must have proven secretarial skills along with excellent typing and organisational skills. You will be a key communication link with the CNS Team and their patients. You will use your judgement skills to prioritise tasks and have knowledge of data entry.
You are an enthusiastic and conscientious team player, able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trusts ‘We are here for you’ behavioural standards and have a good understanding of confidentiality issues.
Experience in the use of computer systems including Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience of hospital systems including Winscribe, Medway PAS, and NOTIS is desirable.

Working as part of the team the post holder will support the provision of a high quality secretarial and administrative service to the Oncology CNS Team to ensure that administrative/secretarial duties are completed accurately and within the set timeframe.

- Working under own initiative and completing day to day tasks of the role in an organised and proactive manner
- Work closely with all disciplines and roles involved in the specialist Oncology pathway to ensure the timely management of patients. Including clinicians, nurses, outpatients, secretaries, management team, and other departments which may require the transfer of sensitive information.
- Use of hospital systems Medway (hospital patient administration system), CriS and Notis (results system) to obtain result’s and outcomes, make and amend appointments and track records.
- Ensure referral to treatment patient data is accurate at all times.
- Deal appropriately and triage enquiries by telephone and in person, from staff and the general public and field to appropriate members of staff.
- To sort and distribute mail, ensuring all correspondence is redirected as appropriate, actioning where possible and prioritising the remainder for action
- Manage email inbox
- Be able to competently use Medway and other IT systems and participate in training programmes to develop and update personal skills to meet the needs of the department
- Typing of standard letters, if required.
