  • Utility Systems: Knowledge of distribution utility software (ADMS, SCADA, DMS, GIS etc.) used for operations, planning and analysis would be an asset
  • Sector Expertise: Knowledge of Ontario utility sector and key stakeholders within it
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows 10 and MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE:

The Grid Modernization Specialist Co-op position is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in growing, enhancing, and scaling work that the Grid Modernization team is leading. The successful candidate will support the team in identifying, delivering, coordinating, analyzing, interpreting, managing, and enhancing operational and information systems used throughout the Asset Strategy & Operations (ASO) division.
The Grid Modernization Specialist focuses on leading the effort deployment and continuous enhancement of critical grid modernization software and technologies for Asset Strategy and Operations. This position is instrumental in advancing the utility’s technological capabilities and in-house developed software capabilities. The role demands a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and collaborative leadership to drive the utility’s modernization efforts forward.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform the following tasks and contribute to the overall success of the department:

  • Define the business requirements and managing the deployment of critical grid modernization software solutions, including ADMS and DSO software
  • Work closely with Manager and stakeholders across Operations, Planning, Asset Management, Field Services, and Control Rooms to develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for functional, business and technology requirements for Asset Strategy and Operations. This collaboration is essential for understanding operational needs and ensuring that technological solutions are fit for purpose.
  • Ensure the reliability and efficiency of in-house developed analytics through proactive maintenance, updates, and support. Address any issues swiftly to minimize impact on operations.
  • Key activities for Asset Strategy and Operations team to ensure these systems are implemented efficiently, effectively, and aligned with the utility’s operational needs and strategic goals.
  • Assist in preparing bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders before the required deadline.
