Description:
H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks a Coatings Observer for construction-related and regular maintenance of water storage tanks.
Education and Qualifications
- Willing to Train and Assist with Certifications.
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to drive to various projects sites in own vehicle
- Proficient knowledge of coatings, techniques and procedures.
- Ability to interpret and receive instructions on specific assignment, objectives, and complex features on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, climb and walk continuously during an 8+-hour period.
- Ability to climb elevated ladders +/-200’ elevation with 35pound load.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in a varying climate (heat and cold, etc.).
- Must be able to effectively use technology in the office and field.
- Must have good computer skills and be able to learn related software.
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Note: Occasion nights and weekends may be required.
- NACE Certification Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 Certified
- OSHA Construction Safety Training Preferre
Responsibilities:
- Perform observations in accordance with the techniques and procedures outlined by the company, industry and certification held.
- Meet with and observe and record contractors’ activities at various project sites as required.
- Regularly climb elevated tower/ladder +/-200’ elevation and utilize safety equipment throughout tank observation operations.
- Observe details of work performed by others, document results, and obtain photographic documentation of work product.
- Prepare written observation reports in accordance with H2M standards
- Determine and ensure compliance with technical documents and industry specific standards and codes and report back on the same.
- Review and download field data into laptop computer and transfer to company server in accordance with standards outlined.
- Prepare detailed daily job reports and discuss projects with supervisor on a daily basis.
- Perform other like duties as assigned in office or field.

The salary range for this role is $30 - $50 / hour.
