Overview:
This is a provisional appointment.
Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job):
Investigates complaints of Code Violations, educates the public on proper storage of trash by distributing brochures and answering inquiries.
Responsibilities:
- Issues Violation Notices for properties that fail to comply with the codes.
- Initiates court proceedings against owners or businesses for continuously or flagrantly violating the Environmental Codes.
- Reports to the office any problems in the field that need attention from other agencies to correct the problem.
- Performs related duties as required.
Required to work any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- Applicants should have knowledge of laws and ordinances relative to enforcing violations for litter, rubbish, garbage and investigative procedures.
- Must be able to pass a written examination for a Licensed Special Police Officer.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Police Officer license.
- Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
C.O.R.I. check required.
