The Ministry of Finance supports excellence in governance and public administration through economic, financial and fiscal expertise, leadership and services.
The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance administers and enforces consumption and other taxes that generate over $5B annually in revenue to the Government of Saskatchewan. Taxes include PST, tobacco tax, vapor products tax, fuel tax, liquor consumption tax, and others.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance is seeking a highly motivated individual with progressive experience in leading teams, strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to client service, to fill the role of Supervisor with the Collections team. Reporting to the Director of Collections in the Revenue Intelligence, Collections & Investigation Branch, you will:
- Lead, train, instruct, coach, guide and support a team of collection officers responsible for the collection of taxes payable to the province under various tax programs administered by the Ministry of Finance.
- Monitor and evaluate team performance and provide coaching and feedback to ensure high levels of performance.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships to educate, influence or persuade others to achieve understanding or negotiate an agreement.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and identify areas of improvement.
- Select, organize and prioritize collection cases in a risk-based collection environment.
- Prepare reports and presentations on team performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in and/or lead various projects, often more than one at a time.
TYPICALLY, THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION WOULD BE OBTAINED THROUGH:
- The completion of a post-secondary education resulting in a degree or diploma focused on accounting, though candidates demonstrating related education and/or experience may be considered. All out of country education must be assessed as accredited for Canadian equivalency. Please include a copy of your Canadian education equivalency assessment with your application along with a copy of your transcripts.
- Experience using a variety of computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite.
The successful candidate will be an experienced supervisor who can provide coaching and direction to a team of up to seven staff. You will be fair, open-minded, and objective in working with clients and staff to meet unit goals and objectives. Excellent communication skills are required for this job. The successful candidate may be required to travel in-province.
