This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 12 months.

Weekends, bank holidays and school holidays are often our busiest times, so you’ll be required to work regular weekends - usually one weekend day per week with a day off during the week. You’ll be on call one in every three weeks (an additional allowance is provided for this).

THE ADVERTISED SALARY IS INCLUSIVE OF THE INNER LONDON WEIGHTING ALLOWANCE OF £4,465 PER ANNUM.

What it’s like to work here:Reporting to the House and Gardens Manager, you’ll play a key role in looking after the fascinating collections and interiors of the property.
You’ll also maintain productive partnerships with internal and external contacts including key consultants who specialise in conservation, collections and buildings.
You’ll be based at at 575 Wandsworth Road), but will work across the wider portfolio (Morden Hall Park, Rainham Hall and Sutton House),with desk space available at our London Hub, Savoy Hill House and Battersea Arts Centre where we hire a desk space 1 day per week.
As part of the property duty management team, you’ll take on the role of Duty Manager as part of a rota.

What you’ll be doing:You’ll be responsible for the daily opening of the House, ensuring appropriate resources are in place to provide a consistently excellent service for our visitors. You’ll line-manage a small, dedicated team of Conservation and Collections Volunteers and take the lead on recruiting, inducting and training new volunteers into this role. A key aspect of the role will be rota management, ensuring we have sufficient volunteers to clean and care for the House. You’ll support the House Experience Volunteers to develop their skills in telling visitors about us.
You’ll also be responsible for routine conservation, preventive conservation and the annual programme of deep cleaning.
You’ll take the lead on Risk and Compliance, helping to ensure we remain compliant and work safely by supporting regular workplace inspections and keeping risk assessments and other essential documentation up to date.
